Movie Review:


Director Sujoy Ghosh’s film Aladin seems to have surpassed the expectations of the film’s cast and crew. Everyone from Ritesh Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Amitabh Bachchan to music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar have seen the film at a special screening and can’t stop raving about it.


Vishal Dadlani particularly seems mighty impressed by the film. After watching the film earlier this week, he tweeted: “you know what? after tonight, i’ll stick my neck out. i’ve rarely seen a film as big as ALADIN, yet so complete as an emotional journey.”


The composer-singer did not stop at that and went on to make a money-back offer to the people who don’t like the film.


“…loved ALADIN so much tonight, that if you go, and don’t like it, i’ll refund your ticket-price, for the first hundred people! there!” he tweeted.


Even Amitabh Bachchan can’t seem to rid himself of the images of ‘Aladin’ after watching the film.

The story of the movie is, Sudeep is a young and successful construction engineer with ambitious plans. He is an atheist. He has a religious wife and two kids.


He fires a woman called Madhu (Aswini Kalsekar) and her husband for indulging in fraud. In turn she uses black magic on the little daughter of Rajeev. The rest of the story is all about how an atheist like Sudeep believes in Black magic and saves his daughter.

‘Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru’ is about couple of colleagues: Arjun (Ajmal) and Archana (Rupa) working together in an advertising agency under a boss Srinivasan (Mouli). Srinivasan has a peculiar problem and that’s about failing to recollect the names. Arjun is so lethargic in his works while Rupa is contrastively characterized. The two poles are always apart on sides, but situations urge them to get on together for bringing their boss out from speculative situation. They’ve got to shoot a commercial video with a cute-looking baby as lead. After a big pursuit, they come across a beautiful child. But things are upside down as they’re struck in serious scenario as the baby posing for commercial is actually kidnapped.What unfolds next happens to be a series of hilarious and thrill moments. Movie Review:


Shiva (Nitin) is a modern day Robin Hood who steals from the rich and unjust and distributes the money to the poor and needy. Over the course of his adventures, he comes to know of a massive 500 crore cash chest in the Home Minister's residence. He hatches a plan and finally steals the money. However, Shiva is not in knowledge of the true roots of the money. It is earned through cricket betting by the Mafia dons and was caught by the police before being locked away at the Home Minister's(Ahuthi Prasad) residence.


Now, the Mafia scion in Dubai comes to know that his money is robbed and he as a revenge kidnaps the Krishna Veni (Ileana), the Home Minister's daughter and asks the minister for the release his henchmen and payback the stolen money in return for his daughter's release. Shiva comes to know the whereabouts of his girlfriend and sets out to Dubai to settle scores with the Don. How he does it is the essence of the story…………….

Movie Review


"Ninaithale Innikkum", a remake of recent Malayalam hit "Classmates", was touted to be a campus movie loaded with lot of fun. Unfortunately, it not only fails to recreate the same magic, the movie was far from being impressive.


The story goes like this - Siva (Prithviraj) returns to attend his college reunion. He beats up Vasu (Karthik Kumar) for misbehaving with a girl and his friend Sakthi (Ajmal) supports him. Jealous of Siva's popularity, Vasu is on a prowl and looking for an opportunity to take revenge.


Meera (Priyamani), daughter of local MLA who studies in the same college and falls in love with Shiva after he saved her from a police lathicharge, provides him that chance.


Vasu convinces Meera to contest against Shiva in the college's union elections. This affects their relationship. After a sequence of unfourtunate events during the election, Siva packs his bags and leaves Mumbai without informing anyone.


The problem with the movie is that almost everything is predictable and most of the incidents are packed in a dull manner. Even the romance between the lead pair isn't executed with zest.


The beginning seems interesting, but it fails to live up to the expectation. If the first half stutters and staggers, latter half too fails to impress despite some interesting twists and turns.

Peranmai - Story about a forest officer (Jayam Ravi) foils the plan of a group of terrorists trying to enter the country with the help of 5 girls. For, 'Peranmai', an action-packed heavy budget entertainerdirected by S P Jananathan with 'Jayam' Ravi in the lead is getting ready to hit the screens.


Ravi has lost weight for the role of a forest officer in this film. He plays a one-man army in 'Peranmai', similar to that of Sylvester Stallone in 'Rambo'. Vasundra, Saranya, Varsha, Tanusika and Liyasree playthe lead female roles.


"I was impressed when Jananathan narrated the story to me. I did rigorous work-outs to suit the role. I learnt martial arts and archery for the movie. Shooting in dense jungles was a great experience," says the actor.


Hailing Ravi, Jananathan says, "He is an actor of commitment and dedication. I am sure that this film is going to be a milestone in Ravi's career."


'Peranmai' is produced by Ayngaran International, a production house synonym with grandeur. After the critical success of 'Iyarkkai' and the commercial success of 'E', Jananathan has been entrusted with the job of making 'Peranmai' by Karunamoorthy and Arun Pandian of Ayngaran.


Thanks to the producers, the film will be seeing some novel technical stuff like helicopter cameras being used for the first time in Tamil cinema.


According to reliable sources, the movie is about how a forest officer (played by Ravi), with the help of five girls, foils the plans of terrorists to enter the country.


Former Mr Universe and Hollywood actor Roland Kickinger plays the baddie. The film has Ravi doing a full length action role as a tribal and forest guard who fights against international terrorists led by Kickinger who are trying to destroy our forest and thereby the ecological system using bio technology.

The producer in director Shankar is known for spotting the right talent. In ‘Eeram’, he has brought out the filmmaker in his former-associate Arivazhagan. S Pictures, which has made a name for churning out movies on different genre, has dared to deliver an eerie thriller, which is a rarity in Tamil cinema.


Arivazhagan, quiet like his mentor, has come out with a movie that has gripping screenplay coupled with good use of technology. What starts as a crime thriller takes twists and turns to end up as a horror show.


The debutant director has been assisted by a young brigade of technicians and lesser known star cast. ‘Eeram’ lives up to its theme- all is wet and watery in the film from the first frame till the last.


Making a seat-edge thriller on super-natural elements is no easy task. It has to be logical. The young filmmaker takes the responsibility on his shoulder and lives up to the reputation entrusted on him by his mentor.


The movie revolves around Ramya (Sindhu Menon). She is found dead in a bathtub at her posh apartment. Vasu (Aadhi), a top cop takes the responsibility of investigating the death. He suspects foul play in the incident.


He enquires Bala (Nandaa), Ramya’s husband and several other neighbours. However, he is yet to make progress in the case. An interesting flashback reveals that Vasu and Ramya were lovers in Trichy.


They estrange after Ramya’s father (Rajasekar) refuses for their marriage. Meanwhile, four murders take place in the apartment complex where Ramya lived. Vasu gets the shock of his life during the investigation. Revealing more on the story would take away the suspense element. Watch the movie to know what happened next.


Aadhi, who played a rustic youth in ‘Mirugam’, plays a suave cop. With the image makeover, he fits the bill well. Reminding a blend of Suriya of ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ and Vikram in ‘Sami’, Aadhi promises a lot.


Sindhu Menon plays a timid wife. She lends credibility to her role with expressive eyes and neat portrayal. Nandaa, who hitherto played a romantic youth, dons a different role. He deserves appreciation for taking the guts to do it.


The rest of the cast including actor-director Srinath, Saranya Mohan and Lakshmi Ramakrishnan have performed well. The young music composer Thaman (introduced as an actor in Shankar’s ‘Boys’), has come up with soul-stirring music. Visual effects are the USP in the film and it manages to create an element of suspense among the audience.


The scene-stealer however is cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, who does his lens do all the talking. He has captured the whole movie on a different colour tone as water finds a place in almost all the sequences, quiet appropriate to the title.


Arivazhagan seems to have begun a journey which would go long and long. However, the second-half seems to be a bit draggy needing immediate chopping of few scenes. Shankar has once again proved that all hopes are not lost in Tamil cinema. Cheers to ‘Eeram’ team.

Kamal Haasan's Unnai Pol Oruvan is much expected and we are seeing the first light of the movie. The audio launch of the movie has been announced and it will take place on August 31. The official release of the event says that the launch would not have the usual fanfare and more importantly no onstage speakers. But the release clearly mentions that all will get their due respect.


The shooting of the movie took place in Chennai, Hyderabad and Puducherry. This Kamal starrer has been directed by Charkri Tolatti and also casts Lakshmi, Anusha, Poonam, Premkumar, Santhana Bharathi, MS Bhaskar, Sreeman and Karate Raja. Manoj has handled the camera and Sruthi Haasan has scored music for the movie……………………
